The Canadian Tulip Festival
The Canadian Tulip Festival takes place in Ottawa from May 12 through May 22, 2017. This particular festival is a memorable celebration that was founded on an international friendship with the presentation of 100,000 tulip bulbs from Princess Juliana of the Netherlands to Ottawa, Canada’s capital in 1945 after the war. It was given by HRH Princess Juliana in appreciation of the safe haven given to the members of Holland’s exiled royal family during World War II in Ottawa and also in recognition of the role which our Canadian troops have played in the liberation of the Netherlands in World War II.
The Canadian Tulip Fest is also a great celebration of the return of spring, with a million tulips in 50 different varieties that are in bloom around the nation’s capital. Come and experience the event and explore the city where the tulip festival is held during spring.
